Every child deserves a childhood

The fact that the word orphan exist is what we aim to change.

About us

We are not here to help. We are here to end.

We exist to end orphanhood — to ensure every child has a safe home, care, and the chance to dream.
Every person drawn to the Soil and Soul Initiative comes not to do good for the sake of doing good, but to confront an injustice that should never have existed.

Recently, our founder visited the Daya Vihar orphanage in India run by a devoted couple who have been caring for children for over 25 years. This visit was not just to witness their incredible dedication, but to deeply understand the challenges they face — from daily needs to long-term sustainability. We are now partnering with them to strengthen their work and ensure that every child in their care has the chance to grow up safe, loved, and with a future they can dream about.

For some, this is their first act of seriousness in a world full of distractions. For others, it is the next inevitable step in a life that has always sought what is real.

Our founder, Nitish Jaiswal, spent six years in the Effective Altruism community. But movements are not enough. This — this is personal. A vow born of childhood clarity: that cares for all children and gives them a childhood of dreams.

Nitish is accompanied by Tulsi Patel, his wife. She has always had a soft spot for kids, and this is just the next step in that journey for her.

Michael Johnston, Nitish’s mentor, arrived not with fanfare, but with the quiet resolve that this matters. That pretending not to see is no longer an option.
